I love comments on Facebook that begin with, “Unfriend me if you want to, but….” as if the comment being made is so radical, when it’s actually just the writer’s opinion. Who the hell cares if someone unfriends you on social media because of your opinion. Do you really want that person as a “friend”?
I’ve found zero correlation between positives or negatives I post on X (the artist formerly known as “Twitter”) and additions or subtractions in my followers the next day. I think the appeal of anyone, intellectually, is not whether you always agree with them or not, but whether or not they force you to think “outside the lines.”
